There are many animals in the forest. Today is a fine day. Animals are having a sport meeting.

Monkey, Fox, Panda, Rabbit and Bear are running. Look! Rabbit is the first. Fox and Monkey are the second. Bear is the third. The other animals are shouting, “Bear! Come on! Bear! Come on!” And look there, Duck and Pig are doing high jump. Pig is too fat, he can't jump very high. So Duck is the champion. Here! Cat and Squirrel are climbing a tree. Cat is ill. So he is the last, but he does his best. This sports meeting is wonderful. The animals are very happy!

Delbert figured the bill would be a little over $15. He had bought seven Hershey’s Special Dark 5-ounce chocolate bars. They were on sale, reduced from $1.49 to $1 each. He had studied the various deals on toilet paper. You need a calculator to figure out what the best deal is, he muttered as he looked at each price tag beneath each item. Knowing that the house brand is almost always cheaper than the name brand, he settled on Ralfs Nice ‘n Soft 2-ply tissue.

The large plastic package proclaimed “Comfy Softness.” The 12 double rolls were reduced from $7.19 to $5.39. Delbert read the small print on the package: “Embossed for softness—Ralfs Bathroom Tissue is Soft, Thick and Plush. Safe for sewer and septic systems.”

He had also bought about 2 ½ pounds of bananas, at 67 cents a pound. A week ago, no bananas were available. Instead, a sign had said, “Bad weather in Ecuador is affecting our banana supply.”

Delbert was surprised when the bill came to $15.91. He gave the checker a twenty and got his change. Then he pushed his cart over near the coffee counter to double-check his bill. There it was--$5.91 for the toilet paper. He pushed the cart back to aisle 4. He looked at the price tag on the bottom of the shelf again—it said $5.32. Ha, he thought. He went back to the same checker and told her about the overcharge.

Three Foxes

Once there were three foxes, they worked together。 They lived a happy life。 Little by little, the youngest fox became lazy, and often quarreled with the other foxes。 The eldest had to leave, and the second fox was driven off, too。 Looking at the warm house with a lot of good food in it, the youngest fox smiled。 The eldest fox opened a new hill again。 The second eldest fox dug a pool。 Two of them because rich soon。 The youngest fox ate up the food left by the other two foxes。 In the end it felt so cold and hungry that it could not stand up。

Linda was a good girl, but she was often late for school.

One day, she was late again. When she came in, Mr. Clark, her teacher said angrily, “I’ll tell you father if you are late again.” Linda didn’t want him to do that. Because her father was very strict with her.

The next morning, Linda got up early. She hurried to school. At the school gate, she heard the first bell, “What shall I do?” she asked herself, “I’ll turn it in first.” She decided. And so she did.

When she hurried into her classroom, Mr. Clack was already beginning his class.

“Linda! Didn’t I tell you to be here on time?” Mr. Clack said as he as her.

“I’m sorry, sir,” Linda tried to explain, “I’m late because I had to…?”

“I don’t listen to any excuse,” Mr. Clack stopped her. “If you can’t get here on time, I have to tell your father.”

“But Mr. Clack. It’s …it’s unfair!”

“Unfair! How dare you say that?” Mr. Clack said angrily, “I’ll report you to the headmaster.

“I was only trying to do a good idea,” Linda thought,“and now…” She couldn’t keep back her tears.

When the bell rang for the break, the door opened and Mr. White, the headmaster came in. he was holding a wallet in his hand, “Excuse me, Mr. Clack. Is this your wallet?”

“Oh,yes. It’s my wallet. Who found it? I must thank him.”

“Linda found it and turned it in before school started.” Mr. Whitesaid.

Mr. Clack face slowly turned red. He looked at Linda and said, “I’m very sorry. Linda. I take back what I said.”

“And I’m sorry. Mr. Clack. I’ll try not to be late again.” Linda said.
