　　《Centuries》是Pete Wentz、Patrick Stump、Joe Trohman、Andy Hurley、J.R. Rotem、Justin Tranter、Raja Kumari与Michael Fonseca在2014年年中谱写的，被Omega和Rotem生产。歌曲是当Fall Out Boy和美国的乐队Paramore一起进行monumentour活动时创作的 。

　　Pete Went在被《Kerrang!》采访时，解称歌曲来源于圣经中大卫大战歌利亚的故事，想要写首关于有些奇怪的能人。

　　《Centuries》取样了乐团自创唱片厂牌DCD2 Records旗下女歌手Lolo翻唱自Suzanne Vega的1987年畅销曲《Tom's Diner》 。Patrick Stump阐述乐队想向流行歌曲文化中注入如"Tom's Diner"中的元素。
