Singer Ken Wu says live your life your way
DO you live your life according to strict rules? Do those around you like to give you instructions or advice?
It may be helpful to listen to their voices, but Taiwanese pop star Ken Wu (吴克群) also prefers to follow his own heart and emotions. "The best thing for everyone is to live in a natural way," he said, "You don't need too much considerations or burden on your mind. Be who you are."
He showed up on April 20 in Beijing to give love and care to the children with hearing disabilities at a Nokia charity event. "Music is a big part of my life. I couldn't imagine days without it," he said, "One of my friends has a passion for singing, but unfortunately lost his hearing — it's a painful experience. So I wish to bring beautiful sound back to those kids who can't hear."
Wu also talks to Teens about his new single Laotze Says (《老子说》), which was released in Taiwan on April 26. He says that he admires the wisdom of the ancient philosopher (哲人), and agrees with things advocated in Tao Te Ching (道德经), like living naturally.
"In this song, I just encourage young people to have their own path in life," he said, "They can decide what they want to be like."
Wu has always been inventive in his music style. He refuses to stay on the same track for a long period of time.
At first glance, the name of the song Laotze Says follows that of the last hit General order (《将军令》), but Wu says that the two songs have very different styles.
"The new song is not the Chinese traditional style. Instead, it's electronic music," he said, "I'll never be satisfied by following the same route. I'll keep trying new things and seeking after variety (变化) in my work."

Magic Cyndi's as sweet as sugar
SHE is called "Sweet Princess" for her sweet smile and sweet voice. But the always adorable (可爱的) Taiwanese singer Cyndi Wang (王心凌) has been away from the music scene for a while.
Last year the 24-year-old starred in the TV drama Smiling Pasta (《微笑Pasta》), which is set for another season in 2007. But the question is: when will her new album come out?
Now, 15 months after Cyndi with U, her fifth album, Cyndi is releasing her sixth album, Magic Cyndi, on April 30.
"I wish I had the magic to make the bad things in life disappear, keeping only happiness," she said, explaining the title of the CD.
In this new album, Cyndi displays her trademark (标志性的) cute voice in the pop songs. The cheery, uptempo (快节奏的) first song is Love's Tian Ling Ling (《爱的天灵灵》).
The song was inspired by Cyndi's conversations with her single girlfriends. They often discussed the best way to find love. The song's lyrics talk about different traditional methods of foretelling (预言) romance. The melody (旋律)of Love's Tian Ling Ling is a refreshing mix of musical styles. It uses traditional Chinese instruments like erhu and bamboo flute alongside disco and hip-hop beats.
While sweet is the very word people like to use to describe Cyndi, you may not know that she faced lots of hardship in her life. She grew up in a single-parent family and worked hard to support her mother and younger brother. "I didn't find it hard. It made me strong and independent," she said. "I have learned to rely on (依靠) myself."
As a singer and actress, Cyndi has a very busy schedule. It puts lots of pressure (压力) on her, but she has her own way of dealing with it. She has raised a cat and likes to play with it. She also loves to ride her bicycle in the open countryside.
